Liverpool Police Seek Identity of Woman Found Dead in Stanley Park

Merseyside Police have renewed their appeal for information to identify a woman whose body was found in Stanley Park, Liverpool, more than a month ago.

The woman, believed to be aged between 60 and 80, has not yet been identified despite an extensive investigation that has included hundreds of hours of CCTV reviews and around 900 home visits.

Detectives said the woman had several medical conditions, including malnutrition, osteoporosis, arthritis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Woman Remains Unidentified After Extensive Police Search

A murder investigation was launched after the woman’s body was discovered in a walled garden at Stanley Park on 28 August 2026.

Police said the body may have been in the park since the first week of July.

Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson said investigators were determined to establish the woman’s identity and urged anyone with information about her circumstances to contact police.

The force has previously received information about more than 100 women who members of the public believed could be the unidentified woman. Police said 126 women have since been ruled out.

Medical Conditions Could Help Identify Her

Detectives have released details of the woman’s medical conditions in the hope that someone may recognise her from her circumstances or know someone who has been missing.

Police said she had no teeth, meaning dental records could not be used to establish her identity.

DS Wilson said investigators did not know whether the woman had been living alone, with relatives or with a carer before her death.

She urged people who may have noticed a woman matching the description to come forward, regardless of whether they believe the information could be significant.

Police Release Description of Unidentified Woman

Merseyside Police described the woman as white, approximately 5ft 2in tall and of small build.

She had strawberry blonde hair and was wearing a pink Nike T-shirt when she was found.

The location of Stanley Park, between Liverpool’s Anfield stadium and Goodison Park, has also formed part of the police investigation.

Officers continue to speak with residents and others who live or work near the park.

Detectives Review Hundreds of Hours of CCTV

Investigators have carried out extensive enquiries in an effort to establish the woman’s identity and trace her movements.

Police said detectives have reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and conducted approximately 900 home visits.

They have also worked with partner agencies, including the National Crime Agency, as part of the investigation.

Despite those efforts, the woman’s identity remains unknown.

Police Appeal for Information

Police have previously said that some post-mortem findings were being withheld for investigative reasons.

The force is asking anyone who may have information about the woman’s identity, movements or circumstances to contact Merseyside Police.

Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.

Detectives said even information that may appear insignificant could help establish who the woman was and assist the ongoing murder investigation.
