Epstein asked staff to install hidden video cameras at his Florida home, email exchange shows
Emails Show Jeffrey Epstein Requested Hidden Cameras at Florida Home
Friday 13 February 2026
Sky News has identified a 2014 email exchange in which convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein requested hidden motion-detection cameras for his home in Palm Beach, Florida.
The emails were among millions of documents released last month by the US Department of Justice (DoJ).
In a message dated 5 February 2014, Epstein wrote: “Let’s get three motion detected hidden cameras, that record, thanks.” (sic)
Five hours later, an associate replied that two motion-sensor cameras had already been purchased from a store in Fort Lauderdale and were being installed inside tissue boxes.
Surveillance Footage Reviewed
The Sky News Data & Forensics team has reviewed more than a thousand fragmented videos included in the DoJ release. Many appear to have been filmed inside Epstein’s office at his Florida residence.
One clip shows a man resembling Epstein speaking to women inside the room. Another shows a woman kneeling beside him. Sky News said it has not been able to verify when the footage was recorded.
Police documents previously indicated that some victims feared they were being secretly recorded. The newly uncovered emails and video material analysed by Sky News suggest covert surveillance equipment was indeed installed at the property.
Political Fallout
The revelations come amid renewed scrutiny of the DoJ’s handling of the so-called Epstein files.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi faced criticism during a recent congressional hearing over the release of the documents. Survivors and critics accused her of lacking empathy and transparency, arguing that not all files have been made public and that many documents remain heavily redacted.
Bondi defended the department’s actions, saying she was “deeply sorry for what any victim has been through.” However, she declined to accept personal responsibility for earlier failures to properly redact certain names, stating that staff acted under significant pressure.
