Man, 33, Admits Selling Chemical Online to Assist Suicides

Tuesday 18 November 2025

A 33-year-old man has admitted selling a chemical online to people intending to take their own lives.

Miles Cross pleaded guilty to four counts of intentionally carrying out an act capable of encouraging or assisting suicide.

Wrexham Magistrates’ Court previously heard that Cross supplied chemicals to 26-year-old Shubhreet Singh on 22 August last year. Ms Singh died shortly afterward in West Yorkshire.

The remaining three charges relate to three other individuals who survived. They cannot be identified due to reporting restrictions. The alleged incidents took place in August and September 2024.

Police have also launched an investigation into a second death potentially linked to packages distributed by Cross.

Cross, from Wrexham, reportedly set up an online operation on an internet discussion forum, where he used a pseudonym to sell the substance. After joining the site in July 2024, he posted a QR code that allowed users to order the chemical directly and pay into his bank account. He received £100 payments from four different buyers before sending the substance to them by post.

He was arrested in January following a police probe into the sales. Officers recovered the chemical, packaging materials and other equipment at his home. Digital devices seized from the address linked him to the forum, social media accounts and financial transactions.

“Miles Cross preyed on four people in a distressed state and knowingly provided a substance intended to end their lives,” said Alison Storey, specialist prosecutor with the CPS Special Crime Division. “His actions were solely for financial gain, and he made the process of purchasing the chemical easy and accessible.”

North Wales Police Detective Superintendent Chris Bell said Cross had exploited vulnerable people “in their most desperate moments,” adding that the guilty plea would spare families the trauma of a trial.

He praised the courage of witnesses involved in the “highly complex and sensitive” 10-month investigation.
