A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Eghosa Ogbebor, who was shot dead in Woolwich earlier this month.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect was initially arrested on 4 April and later released on bail before being re-arrested on 9 April. He has now been formally charged and is scheduled to appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court.

Police were called to Lord Warwick Street, near the Woolwich Ferry and Woolwich Dockyard station, at about 3:40pm on 2 April following reports of a shooting. Eghosa, aged 14, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that several other individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. These include a 19-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, who were initially detained on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender, respectively, but later released on bail.

In addition, three others—a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man—were also arrested as part of the investigation and have since been bailed while inquiries continue. A separate 16-year-old suspect was arrested on 10 April and remains in custody.

Police say specialist officers are continuing to support the victim’s family as investigations progress. The case remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
