BREAKING: At Least 47 Killed As 7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Colombia

At least 47 people have been killed after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia, causing buildings to collapse, trapping people under rubble and forcing residents to evacuate in several cities.

The earthquake, described as one of the strongest to hit the country in a decade, was felt hundreds of kilometres from its epicentre. Cali, Pereira, Buenaventura and Manizales were among the areas reporting casualties and significant damage.

Rescue teams are searching collapsed buildings for survivors, while authorities continue to assess the extent of the destruction. Several airports were also affected, with flights temporarily suspended.

The death toll has risen rapidly as emergency operations continue, and officials warn that the number of casualties could increase.

The United States has also expressed readiness to support Colombia as the country responds to the disaster.
