Police Investigate Suspected Double Murder After Three Family Members Found Dead in Ballymena

Police in Northern Ireland believe the deaths of three members of the same family in Ballymena, County Antrim, may have been the result of a suspected double murder followed by a sudden death.

The victims—a 41-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and an eight-year-old girl—were found inside a house on Old Cullybackey Road on Monday. Authorities said the two adults were originally from Poland.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), investigators are awaiting post-mortem results, but a strong working hypothesis suggests the incident involved a double murder followed by the death of another individual.

Superintendent William Calderwood described the scene encountered by first responders as deeply shocking. Police confirmed they are not searching for any additional suspects and are providing specialist support to the victims’ relatives while liaising with the Polish Consulate.

Investigators have appealed to members of the public who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The tragedy has left the local community in shock, with floral tributes placed outside the property. Local leaders have expressed condolences to the victims’ family in both Northern Ireland and Poland while acknowledging the emotional impact on neighbours, friends, and especially the classmates of the young girl.
